Overview of Provisioning Service

Signify uses the term "Provisioning" to mean the process of getting a physical token device into a user's hands. Within Signify's service, we offer 2 forms of Provisioning, for 3 different stages in the lifecycle of an organisation and it's users.

The 3 different stages:
Initial roll-out of a token to a new user
Replacement of a token to an existing user where the user has lost/broken their token or the token has become faulty
Replacement of a token when it is due to expire

Signify offers 2 methods for doing provisioning, for each of these stages:
Local Provisioning: Signify ships a batch of tokens to the customer, and the customer's administrator then hands the tokens out to each user. Ideal if all (or most) of the users are in the same building as the administrator.
Signify Provisioning: Signify holds the tokens on behalf of the customer. For each token required, Signify will ship the token directly to the end user, so that the administrator doesn't need to find tokens, packaging, postage etc. Signify provides SLAs for how quickly it will send the replacement token out. Tokens are shipped using a next-day guaranteed (except for certain countries) and insured delivery service. Ideal for rolling out new users who are based remotely, from home, at many sites, or at customers/suppliers. Also ideal for replacement tokens which are not predictable when they are needed, and Signify can offer better guaranteed responsiveness to end users than an internal IT team.
The most common profile amongst customers is that customers choose:
Local provisioning for new users
Signify provisioning for replacement of lost, broken, and faulty tokens
Signify provisioning for expiring tokens
