Teachers with tokens!

2 June 2003

Staffordshire County Council sign a 3 year deal to provide Signify tokens to teachers across the County.

Signify partner Blue Cube has won a 3 year deal with the Educational Joint IT Unit of Staffordshire County Council to supply the SecurID from Signify managed strong authentication service, to secure staff access to web-based teaching resources and administrative networks in schools across the County.

The EJITU is providing schools across the County with broadband Internet access and a growing range of centrally managed services which can be delivered over this high capacity network.

Many of these services are restricted to teaching and administrative staff, and students must be prevented from accessing these resources.

Staffordshire EJITU quickly realised that strong 'two-factor' authentication of staff is the only solution as students could quickly break any form of password that the teacher might use.

The popular RSA SecurID system was selected as the preferred solution, but Staffordshire EJITU did not want the burden of building and managing the technical infrastructure themselves.
